It only snows here about once a year, so everything shuts down when it does.
Which means snow days! The first snow day is fun.
I’m making hot chocolate, snow cones (see below for how to make one with real snow), and snowmen with the kids, watching them sled, wiping up the melted snow tracked across my wood floors, and draping hats/mittens/coats/socks/boots/snow pants over every surface in the living room to dry.
By the end of the first snow day, I’m exhausted and am ready for quiet, indoor activities that aren’t just movies.

How to Use These Activities
The activities below can done in any order. However, activities 2, 3, and 4 are all related to clothing, so it’s best to do those in order.
Printables
- Download the printables you want.
- Print one for each child.
- Have your kids follow the directions to complete the printable.

Free Winter Fun Activities Your Kids Can Do at Home without Snow
Your kids can use the activities below any time it’s too cold / rainy / snowy to go outside this winter.

After the previous two activities, click the video and have your kids watch this interactive video with an easy conversation in Spanish to practice both weather and clothing for different seasons (including winter!).
5. Easy Snowman Craft
Your kids can learn body parts in Spanish with this easy snowman craft! After cutting out the snowman body parts, your kids can glue them together to create a snowman – no snow needed!
Then your kids can cut out the body part labels and glue those on.
Once their snowmen are complete, have them listen to the pronunciation and practice saying the body parts with their snowmen.

Free Winter Fun Activities Your Kids Can Do at Home with Snow
You’ll need snow for your kids to actually do these activities, but your kids can always watch how to make a snow cone to be ready for when it does snow!
6. Make a Snow Cone with REAL Snow!
My kids and I have a tradition of making snow cones whenever it snows. I wrote the recipe (I guess it’s a recipe?) and made a video showing how to do it.
The video has verbs so kids can learn how to speak in complete sentences.
